The babies were at the crib, as I was strapped in with a baby on my back. Ha! Everything was starting to fall in place, yet there was still a long way to go. To furnish the home would be an enormous undertaking in terms of both time and funds. Also, I had to do my favourite shopping. My three sons and me looked for treasures hidden at estate sales to reduce my expenses. Each week we would spend between Thursday and Saturday in estate sales and garage sales, buying old and new furniture. Then I repainted and smoothed the driveway in the week. Furniture looked this way... and that's the place I discovered my love for restoring. When our house was decorated, I couldn't quit! In the market in town I set up a little area and then sold a few items. Eventually, I had too many pieces to store in the space available. Open houses were held at my residence where 1 000 people could visit on a single weekend. the visitors were able to purchase items on the ground level. Growing Days is the result from this. The business I was running was growing and my family was also growing. I was trying to find that perfect balance of having starting a new venture as well as a mother too. Growing Days was the obvious decision. My daughter Nora became our fourth daughter. My business's direction was excellent, however I had to get some down time. I took some time away from vintage furniture to spend some quality time with my children. This was precisely what I needed at that time. After a couple of months, the phone began to ring. Numerous people reached me to ask for advice about home improvement or decorating. A majority of those calling me were people who had visited my home at one of my furniture open houses. After a while, I took on clients in my own way. Soon I had several accounts and a home remodeling business. Most likely, I would have laughed if somebody had informed me that my company was to become part of a forthcoming television show in the DIY Network. It's hilarious to look back to it.
